The Karnataka government had decided to distribute ration through fair price shops on credit for BPL card holder families
· There are around 20, 000 fair price
shops in the state and one crore BPL card holder families. They need to pay Rs.
42 to get ration but due to present situation they are facing problem. To give
them some relief government has decided to provide ration on credit
· The decision to supply ration on
credit would help resolve the problem of finding small change as well.

The government would extend its
initiative to December too if the situation did not improve,
The monthly quota of ration
would cost Rs. 42 a family, excluding the free rice.
