Six smart cities in Karnataka to get Rs. 1,188 crore in 2017-18

The
Karnataka government, which had released
Rs 776 crore during the 2016-17 fiscal year for the Smart City project, will
provide Rs 1,188 crore in the 2017-18 fiscal.
Some Points about Smart Cities Mission

The Government of India has launched Smart City
Mission on 25th June 2015
·
The goal
of the Smart City Mission is to promote cities that provide core
infrastructure, give a decent quality of life to their citizens and apply smart
solutions to improve services and infrastructure.

The objective
of the Smart Cities Mission is to drive economic growth and improve the
quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing
technology, especially technology that leads to Smart outcomes.

The mission will cover 100 cities and its
duration will be five years (FY 2015-16 to FY 2019-2020) .
·
The government of India has allocated 6 cities
for Karnataka State.
The cities selected for the project are
1.
Mangaluru
2.
Belagavi
3.
Shivamogga
4.
Hubballi-Dharwad,
5.
Tumakuru and
6.
Davanagere
