3-day surfing festival in Mangaluru

·        The Tourism Department of the State, in association with private players, will be hosting the Karnataka Surfing Festival - Indian Open of Surfing - 2017 on May 26-28 at Sasihithlu beach near Mangaluru.

·        The three-day event is India’s biggest surfing festival.

·        The festival aims to promote beaches in the State as a premier adventure destination in the country. They are suitable for various water-based activities, such as surfing and stand-up paddling. It also aims to make surfing a major sport in Karnataka, considering the pristine and unexplored beaches.

·        The festival is in sync with the Tourism Department’s theme of ‘Year of the Wild’, which targets tourists who are keen on exploring the wilderness.
